Social responsibility

At Intura, we are dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the communities we operate in.

Our approach to social responsibility is guided by our core values and supported by our policies and commitments in the following areas.

Community engagement

Our focus is on supporting local and regional not-for-profit and community-based programs that improves the lives of those who live within the community.

This goes beyond our local community and includes all regions we operate in. Intura’s Local Community Engagement Plan outlines how we will engage with these communities regardless of location.

Intura supports:

Chinchilla Community Commerce and Industry
Chinchilla Bowls Club
Toowoomba & Surat Basin Enterprises
Chinchilla Men's Shed Association
McGrath Foundation
Chinchilla RSL

In addition to supporting community organisations, we are also committed to local businesses that directly support the community. We prioritise partnerships with local vendors and service providers, contributing to the economic growth and resilience of our region.

Under our Social Responsibility Policy we are committed to spend 60% of our procurement policy with local businesses (not including OEM products).

Intura on an annual basis commits 2% of net profit to community sponsorship and programs

Sustainability

We embrace environmentally responsible practices to minimise our ecological footprint. From reducing waste to adopting green technologies, we strive to protect the planet for future generations.

Intura is committed to be carbon neutral by 2035 and has and is undertaking a number of actions to achieve this which is outlined in our Climate Change Policy.

This includes transitioning to green energy, reducing our carbon footprint across our operations by minimising waste, recycling, and introducing environmentally friendly programs.

Indigenous Engagement

Intura prides itself on offering local indigenous employment opportunities. In 2021 Intura partnered with Peter Jackson of the Mandandanji people to create a new organisation called Mandana. This new entity focuses on providing recruitment, labour solutions and targeted mentoring programs to support Indigenous talent. Mandana’s mandate is not just for achieving this for Intura but also our clients and other local businesses.

Intura and Mandana will do this by:

  • Recruit, train, mentor and provide long term employment opportunities for indigenous people

  • Delivering cultural understanding and awareness training programs across the industries and regions we operate in

  • Identifying and supporting local indigenous businesses that provide services and products that deliver value for our clients

Another key objective is supporting local indigenous businesses. We purchase goods and services from members of QLD Blackbusiness, Supply Nation, Black Business Finder and our PPE equipment from Your Safety Factory.

Investing in our employees

Our people are the heart of our organization. We are committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and empowering workplace where every employee can grow, thrive, and feel valued.

Intura has developed a number of complimentary policies and actions to increase our diversity and inclusion. This has resulted in a culture that supports our goals and also has delivered a great result.

Intura is also dedicated to fostering the next generation of skilled professionals through strategic workforce development initiatives. We are committed to providing apprentices with opportunities to gain valuable, hands-on experience across a variety of projects, equipping them with practical skills for the future.

In 2024, Intura proudly placed six electrical apprentices on the Western Downs and Collie Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects, as well as one Indigenous apprentice in our calibrations division, demonstrating our commitment to both industry growth and diversity in the workforce.

Through these commitments, we aim to lead with purpose, create shared value, and inspire a lasting impact. Together, we can build a brighter, more sustainable future.
