Community

Intura is committed to supporting the local communities where we operate. Our focus is on supporting local and regional not-for-profit and community-based programs that improves the lives of those who live within the community.

Key not-for-profit organisations we support include:

  • Chinchilla Community Commerce & Industry Inc.
  • Toowoomba & Surat Basin Enterprises
  • Chinchilla RSL
  • Chinchilla Bowls Club
  • Chinchilla Men’s Shed
  • Glen McGrath Foundation
  • Kup of Kindness

Intura also prides itself on supporting regional business. We purchase goods and services from over 30 local businesses in the regions we operate in. This ensures funds remain within the region and creates downstream benefits such as employment and further business investment.

As a locally owned and operated business, supporting community is one of our core values.

Intura acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work and live and recognise their continuing connection to land, sea and water. We pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples

Indigenous support

Intura prides itself on offering local indigenous employment opportunities. In 2021 Intura partnered with Peter Jackson of the Mandandanji people to create a new organisation called Mandana. This new entity will focus on providing recruitment, labour solutions and targeted mentoring programs to support Indigenous talent. Mandana’s mandate is not just for achieving this for Intura but also our clients and other local businesses.

Intura and Mandana will do this by:

  1. Recruit, train, mentor and provide long term employment opportunities for indigenous people
  2. Delivering cultural understanding and awareness training programs across the industries and regions we operate in
  3. Identifying and supporting local indigenous businesses that provide services and products that deliver value for our clients

Intura is also actively involved in the Harness Trainee Program and currently has a number of trainees placed through this initiative. We also employ trainees through the Indigenous Work Stars organisation.

Another key objective is supporting local indigenous businesses. We purchase goods and services from members of QLD Blakbusiness, Supply Nation, Black Business Finder and our PPE equipment from Your Safety Factory.

Gender equality

Gender equality is another area Intura is committed to. We actively recruit female employees and trainees and have implemented a tailored induction program to reduce turnover and provide career pathways. As an outcome of our efforts, we are proud to say that 40% of Intura’s management team are female.  In the technical areas, over 20% of our electricians and over 30% of our mechanics are female.
